Home cinema on the terrace of the family house

The year 2024 is full of tension for sports fans. After the hockey world championships in the Czech Republic, the European football championships come, and immediately after them the summer Olympics in Paris. And what better way to enjoy the world-class performances of athletes than in the comfort of your own terrace, where we have at hand everything you want :) Perhaps this was also the motivation of the owner of a family house in Nové Mesto nad Váhom, for whom we designed and implemented a home cinema directly on terrace.

The dominant part is the electric hanging projection screen PSE90 LTC AUDIO made of fiberglass fabric with a diagonal of 90" or 228.6 cm, an aspect ratio of 16:9 and a projection surface of 200 x 112 cm. The back side of the screen is black in order to avoid rear shadows. Screen it has increased resistance to mold, fire, and has a wide viewing angle of 160°, so it is also ideal for outdoor use, as in this case.

A high-quality image is ensured by the BenQ TK700 Ultra HD projector, which belongs to the category of so-called short-throw projectors, because it has the ability to project at a distance of only 0.598 meters. An ideal solution when you have little space for projection. Even when watching closely, the image quality does not deteriorate.

We should have resolved the image, let's take a look at the sound system. It would be a shame if high-quality video technology was not connected with sufficiently high-quality audio technology, in which case the resulting impression would fall short of expectations. In the closable part of the terrace, we used a set of WS640 BS Acoustic 2-way ceiling speakers for interior sound. They are equipped with a 6.5" bass speaker with a polypropylene membrane and a 1" rotating tweeter. They are complemented by an 8" ceiling-mounted subwoofer GAT4860SW Fonestar for sounding interiors on 100V distributions. The speaker is covered by a metal grill with a magnetic clip and contains a 12 dB low pass filter.

The owner also wanted a sound system for the garden area with the pool. Here we used a set of high-quality 2-way speaker system WIP660R-B BS Acoustic with a passive woofer.The speakers are covered with an aluminum grill, have UV protection and IP66 protection. They are therefore suitable for outdoor use.

In order for the whole system to work as it should and for the owner to have the opportunity to set a different sound output for the closable part of the terrace and for the exterior with the pool, we used two compact WA250 BS Acoustic WIFI digital amplifiers. These allow playing music from local, network and Internet storage and services and Internet radios, including podcasts. They also contain a USB / MP3 player with Bluetooth connection.

We also used one special amplifier for the ceiling subwoofer, specifically the SWA100 BS Acoustic model with a power of 100W into 4Ω or 70W into 8Ω. By adjusting the frequency of the low-pass filter in the range of 30-200 Hz, you can match it to all loudspeakers, and with the help of a smooth phase change from 0-180°, you can adapt it to any position in the room.The owner can thus adjust the deep tones to perfection.
